2009 Spain Training Camp
In March 2009 ABRT held two training camps in the Andalucia region of southern Spain. The camps were run by Andy Idle at Idle Breaks. Located high in the mountains of Malaga, the IdleBreaks training camp Spain resides 4km from the village of Villanueva del Rosario, 35km from the Costa del Sol and 45 mins from Granada and its ski slopes. If you need a base to train, the location is superb. One of the highlights of the trip is the climb up Pico Veleta, the ski area located just outside Grenada. It is 32 km at an average gradient of 6.5%, but the initial section, Alto de Monachil is 10 km and averages about 12%. This climb was featured in Stage 13 of the 2009 Vuelta Espania.
